Mılepel

From place to belonging.

Every place carries a potential. Our method is about finding it, shaping it and following it all the way, through six steps that build on each other.

  1. 01Analysis“We don't start with the building. We start with the place.”

The place analysis reads the history, culture, landscape, building traditions and reputation before anything is drawn. The needs analysis uncovers which distinctive traits meet a real market need, so we avoid importing foreign elements, and find what makes the place genuine and distinctive.

  2. 02Vision and concept“The vision always comes before the first line is drawn.”

The qualities of the place are translated into a vision document before work begins. Both material and immaterial values are developed: architecture and functions, but also identity, experiences, stories, community and brand.

  3. 03Local anchoring“A good project doesn't come from outside. It grows from within.”

A typical Milepel project starts from within the local community: early meetings with the municipality, neighbours, landowners, businesses and future users. Input and objections reach the table before plans are locked.

  4. 04Zoning“Where the vision is made feasible.”

Through dialogue with the municipality, volume and feasibility studies and planning work, the vision is made buildable. Risk is clarified early, and the concept evolves in parallel with the planning process.

  5. 05Design and engineering“The good idea must survive all the way to the finished detail.”

With the zoning plan approved, the vision must be protected through architecture, functions, materials and details, in close, open dialogue with the local community.

  6. 06Brand building“The brand isn't added at the end. It's built from day one.”

The identity of the place, the concept, the name, the story and the experiences are developed as part of the project from the start.
